Show and Tell – Favorite Words
Show and Tell – Favorite Words
Well I tried to think of words that were positive and long or special in some kind of way, but my mind was struggling. It is so easy for me to give you a list of my favorite curse words, or things that I say all of the time.
After being in class and hearing the ones everyone else was saying I realized that I did enjoy a lot of the same ones too. I also learned a lot of new words!
My favorite Curse words:
Dammit
Damn
Bitch
Shit
Fuck
My favorite Negative/Random words:
Whack
Whatever
Okay
Right
False
Negative
Tacky
I-Guess
Why
DUMB
Yes-Indeed
GUY/LADY

Show and Tell – Collection
Show and Tell – Collection
For Show and Tell I was going to bring in the latest purchases of my ADDICTION. I am a collector of CDs and DVDs. I live for “New DVD/CD Tuesdays at Best Buy or Circuit City” I collect all kinds of music to my liking of course: R&B, Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop, Soul/Classic R&B, Gospel, Some Country, Jazz, Alternative, and Rock. I buy the actual cds on SALE of course, because I like to have the case and books to hold in my hand. I do buy from iTunes occasionally. I buy DVDs of movies, and seasons of shows that I really love. My collection is huge, and it caters to only me.
My collection is out of Control.
Wait, I have another confession. I also collect Victoria's Secret Underwear. I had a goal to have nothing but this brand in my drawer my freshman year of college. It took me three years to accomplish this goal.
And I also have a photo taking issue. I have 11, 640 photos on my computers. I haven't even put all of the photos from disks that I have. But I love to snap pictures.
So now my secrets are out. I feel so much better getting that off of my chest.

Printing Costs/ Gas Prices
Printing Costs/ Gas Prices
Let me just say that this class has put a dent into my pocket. Printing all of these projects is far from cheap. I mean damn…. For every Tabloid paper printed is approximately $2.20. We have to print everything twice just in case we screw something up when we get the printout home to mount it. Redoing projects causes us to reprint them again. Printing from phase 3 to 4 to a 5th time is not inexpensive. Printing Costs and GAS PRICES are OUT OF CONTROL. I can’t wait to figure out how much money I spent this semester on this class alone. Let me not forget that we have to pay for matte board each time too. Am I the only person that realizes that everything is priced around to $4.00? Gas, matte boards, paper…. Does our economy love the number 4?
Luckily things are coming back down again ☺ 2 bucks for gas, and printing upstairs is GREAT!

McQuade & McQuade is an interesting textbook to look at. I didn’t really enjoy reading all of it, but some of the stories were interesting. The pictures were enjoyable because a lot of them made you read the stories because you couldn’t tell what the purpose of the story was. The scariest picture is still the one of the little girl in the water and the funniest were… hmmm … there were a lot of funny images to choose from. I’ll get back to you on that choice.
I did like that this book made me think “outside of the box”.

After finishing Hale, I realize that I was right about one thing the entire semester. I just don’t “get” the English language. I was okay in elementary school, when I could soak up information, but as I got older it went down hill from there. There is a reason why I did not go to college and major in English, because I suck at it. I feel as if I need to go back to elementary school and relearn all of the basics. How pathetic does that sound?
But all in all, I think I will have to reread Constance’s book along with an English textbook this spring and see if I can get a better handle on writing. Makes me wonder if I should have chosen a different masters program lol….

Show-N-Tell : My inspiration
This is easy. My family has always been my inspiration. It sound generic and cliche' but I promise you that it is true. Hear me out.
It is common for African Americans to have a large family (sometimes that is not the case); but I have a large family. When I say family, I mean my immediate family, plus 1st generation aunts, uncles, and cousins ( I will go as far as my second cousins too a.k.a my 1st cousins children.)
95% of my family grew up in Calvert County, Maryland. We all lived 2 - 25 minutes away from each other so we spent a lot of time together. We grew up together, and some of stayed together and others grew apart. That is just how life goes. You live and learn from it.
I am 50% Ray (my mother's side) and 50% Myers (my father's side)
Immediate family
- Mom, 56 - retired elementary school teacher of 35 years.
- Dad, 58 - small business owner + retired Detective Sergeant of the Maryland State Police.
Add those two together and you get parents that expect you do the right thing.
- Brother 1/ Lonnie, 32 - Physicians Assistant (he was the oldest, and the goodie goodie)
- Brother 2 - Jason, 28 - IT Specialist (he is the middle child, so he was bad LOL)
- Me, the baby girl, the great one, 23 - (Graphics Specialist, and I am a goodie goodie with bad girl tendencies... I am a mixture of both siblings and both parents)
Break down of the sides:
Mom's - 5 brothers and 1 sister... 1st cousins - 15 total with 5, 2nd cousins (ages 1 - 8)
Dad's - 9 brothers and 2 sisters... 1st cousins - 15 total with 2, 2nd cousins (ages 1 - 2)
So all together: 17 aunts and uncles (not including their spouses)
30 first cousins
7 second cousins
So believe me when I say, that you learn a lot from having a diverse family. People do good things, some do really bad things. You can learn from all of them with almost any situation that you come across. I can go to them for inspiration, I can go to them for guidance. I reflect on their mistakes to avoid making them myself ( I do that A LOT).
I am a family oriented person, I hang out with mostly family. So they are my life. You look up to some, and you have younger family members that look up to me. So that is my logic behind Family Inspiration.
